I purchased a rather expensive app for my iPod Touch that I would like to put on my son's iPod Touch. When I plug his iPod Touch into my computer it will recognize his iPod Touch and even tells me there is a game on his iPod that is not in my library. I tell it to transfer that game to my library and it says it's syncing, but his game will not go into my library - and the game I wanted to put on his iPod will not sync to his iPod. I've tried selecting "sync all" and "sync selected". I've tried to "authorize" his iPod on my iMac, but all that happens is I get a message telling me that "this computer is already authorized". Anyone got any ideas how I can get this app from my library onto my son's iPod Touch. Thanks for your help.

So why isn't this like giving your son a copy of your legally purchased Word, Excel, Photoshop, etc. so he doesn't have to buy them? Possible, but not always legal (licensing restrictions may vary with the product). Apparently Apple is imposing a legal restriction.

But as my example indicates, illegal is not always impossible. There is software that transfers files from iPods to Desktops and back again.

Well, I talked to a very nice sales person at the Apple store who told me exactly how to do it - and legally, I might add. I'm not in the habit of doing illegal things, and would never have even tried to do this if I'd not been told by someone it was legal as long as it was shared with a family member living in the same household. And I didn't even have to go buy any kind of software to do it - it's all built into iTunes!
