After struggling w/constant problems and trying answers to questions I posted; gave up and did a clean install of OS 10.5.5. The issues started with the "removal" of PS CS3 beta on 10.4+updates to 10.4.11. The clean install went great although very time consuming.
I tried to cover myself with cloned copies via SuperDuper and separately stored copies made by just copying of my apps on a FW drive. I had thought I could just move them over to the new OS 10.5.5. No luck, the apps come over as "new demo" apps.
The big issue is since may are downloaded apps, what do I do?
Thanks,
PPC G5 3.5GB, OS 10.4.11 on one HD and OS 10.5.5 on 2nd HD

Must be very few apps which behave that way. Please list their names.
Might it be a matter of license keys stored in ~/Library/Application Support (or somewhere?).

At any rate, some apps are best reinstalled. After all, you installed the Tiger version originally.
(i.e., perhaps the installer would invoke different scripts depending on the current OS running).

Do you have the *latest* versions of these apps?
Did you save the downloaded .dmg or .zip files on an external disk/archive?

Oh well, download again i guess. [it's best anyway... all part of being truly clean.]
